Encourage Local Television Stations to Play the Bring Learning to Life PSA

| We need your help to spread the word about the power of service-learning to your communities. Here’s how you can help: | ||
| 1. | Learn which stations received and/or are airing the spot in your state. Visit www.tvaccessreports.com/learnandserve and click “TV” on the main menu bar. There will be a series of menus to choose from. | |
| ||
| If you are located in a larger market, you can view coverage by choosing that city/area from the drop-down box. If you cannot search by specific market, you can filter coverage by state. | ||
| To view all stations receiving the spot, including those that haven’t aired it, you can click on: | ||

| You can search each list by state and find the name and contact information for the individual who received the PSA package. | ||
| 2. | Contact those stations that are not currently airing the spot and encourage them to do so. Call the most appropriate local point of contact provided in the “Receiving List” and try to schedule a phone call or meeting to educate him/her about service-learning and what’s happening in the community. Send a letter to all stations in your market or state that have not aired the spot and encourage them to do so. A template/merge letter is available by clicking on “Station Letter Utility” on the main menu of the monitoring site. | |

| 3. | Thank those stations that are airing the spot. Send a thank-you note to those stations in your market that are airing the PSA. Get creative. Involve service-learning students in writing the letters or include reflection essays from students in your area. | |
| 4. | Maintain a relationship with those stations supporting the PSA. Once a station has aired the PSA, you have the opportunity to develop a relationship with the public service director. He/she can be your gateway to other appropriate contacts within the organization. In the future, you may want to invite the station to sponsor or participate in one of your service projects. Or, you may want to reach out to its reporters to cover your events and news. While reporters may not cover every story idea you bring them, developing a good rapport with them will help draw their attention to neglected needs in the community and increase the likelihood that they will contact you for comments. | |
| 5. | Continue to visit the website to monitor PSA coverage in your location. | |
